This is the ’91 Indy Pace Car backup car. It was displayed inside an infield tent before the Indy 500 race. As a precaution, just before the race, it was taken to the pits as the back-up pace car. (Source: viperjay)
Interesting pre-production version of Viper. It looks similar to VM-02 concept, but has already another (as in production) head and fog lights, wheels, front bumper and mirrors. Only one photo of this known. But it is not real pace car of 1991 Indy 500.

March is a good time to start a new blog dedicated to one of the most daring, brutal and beautiful cars of our time. The viper could remain just a prototype and gather dust in the museum, but it was so cool that they decided to put it into production. And, now, poisonous history is more than 30 years old.
